Deutsche Telekom CTO Anton Schaaf to Join BroadLight’s Board of Directors

January 24, 2006 – Mountain View, Calif. - BroadLight, a leading supplier of ITU Passive Optical Network (PON) semiconductors and software, today announced that Anton Schaaf, the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Deutsche Telekom, has joined BroadLight’s Board of Directors. Mr. Schaaf is a highly-regarded industry visionary in the telecommunications industry and is expected to provide invaluable leadership during BroadLight’s next phase of growth.

Anton Schaaf joined Deutsche Telekom in May 2005 to oversee DT’s technology and innovation activities and assume responsibility for group research and development operations. Prior to his position as Chief Technology Officer of Deutsche Telekom, Mr. Schaaf held senior positions during a seventeen-year tenure with Siemens AG. He held leadership positions in the Public Communications Division and IC Networks Group, culminating in appointment to the Group Board and as CTO. Anton Schaaf began his professional career with Philips N.V. in the Netherlands.
