ESPN goes digital with Vizrt

(Frankfurt Prime Standard: VIZ), the world's leading real-time 3D graphics company, announced today the start of a new era in digital transmission for the US with the help of a system supplied by Vizrt to ESPN in June. The system will be used for the nation's leading sports program for the kickoff of SportsCentre in HDTV technology.

ESPN is the top brand for cable sports broadcasting that reaches more than 87 million US homes. SportsCentre is ESPN's flagship and the nation's leading news and information program and the company's first telecast from its new 120,000 square foot state-of-the art, all digital high-definition facility, the ESPN Digital Center. SportsCentre features a whole new look with a new set plus new graphics that includes three Vizrt high definition graphics systems. It was the second significant order from ESPN Group, which had already ordered a Viz|trio 3D character generator earlier this year.
